The long and winding road (wake)

We are getting to the journey part of the ferry trip. The ship has entered the ocean now and is listing from side to side. Most people have settled into a relaxed state and begin to enjoy the ride. Bax is still trying to entertain himself. I try to give him projects now and again but for the most part he is occupying his time well. Another parenting philosophy that Tam and I share is "it's not my job to entertain you" These words come out often on long family trips. Baxter has been exposed to this concept the longest so he no longer has high expectations in this regard.

For me this has been a great day to catch up and fill in the margin. So much of our days have been hurried, even though we are not travelling especially long distances. I need to make a mental note to keep days short enough so that I have time to write. It is so depressing getting a few days behind and not remembering what you did a few days previous. I think that it is these memories from the margin that have more substance than the "highlights". This is why this blog thing has been so enriching. Although I tell my therapy clients to journal I have not practiced what I preach.
