Day 3 (when eagles soar)

I think I am experiencing technical difficulties. My last entry dissappeared into nowhere land)
We go for a walk after setting up camp. We walk downtown to find a place to eat. We can't find meals we can agree on in the first place we stop so we dash out while no one is looking and go to the local burger joint. I opt for the identifiable chicken part burger while bax orders the thunderbird burger (I think this name comes more from the 60's automobile than the bird in it's size and girth) Bax has to take off one patty for a while just so he can fit it in his mouth.
After supper our bellies full we decide to walk to the pier approx 3 km away. We walk through marshland, where fresh and salt water mix. Here we notice about a dozen eagles feeding on Salmon which are latecomers to the spawning grounds. Maybe they are like me and like to sleep in. We explore an abandoned cannery and walk home in the fleeting daylight. Bax finds an abandoned cedar dugout canoe. On the walk back we realize how far we have come, our legs ache. The thought of a long ferry ride tomorrow helps us cope with the pain. I start to think how we are going to wake up without an alarm. I brought my cell phone but because there is no service, there is no time, and with no time, no alarm. We get back to our site to find the manager closing the gates. She agrees to give us a wake up call 1/2 hour before we need to be at the Co-op for ferry loading. This is my last confirmation that we don't need a watch. The only thing required is humbling oneself and asking for help (kind of like men asking for directions)
