Day 1 (dad)
reading jupiter's travels most recent journey he advised he had some goo from England he used in his tires and he never got a flat his entire journey around the globe. I thought it might come in handy if we went exploring forest service roads on an overloaded Honda. The stuff I finally found was called EZ seal which I hoped would provide the same preventative properties. I unloaded it in my tire after taking all the air out to find my compressor AMA. I tracked it down at one of the neighbors.
We loaded the bike, took some pictures, I grabbed a bun for supper as I was too much in a hurry to sit down and eat. We left at 6:30, too late to avoid some night driving. That was the reason I had taken the last 4 hours off the end of my shift. Unlike Pirsig we entered the margins almost as soon as we turned on the highway. The traffic was crazy filled with massive motohomes who defied the old addage you can't take it all with you. I wonder how their travel experience compares being insulated from all the reality around them. If they are too cold, turn up the heat, if they are sleepy go to the back and rest. If they are sleeping out of level, hit the computer generating leveling system. The clean sheets, showers, toilet, microwave, satellite. Maybe the idea is that because they are so isolated in the suburbia they move their house into a rather traveling road show. I've heard that RV's are much more social and if you experience any tension, start your engine and leave. It is the epitome of convenience and non-commital.
